I want some feedback here. I recently participated in a cookie exchange and it seemed that more than half of the cookies were either store bought (in their plastic containers) or "break and bake" cookies. I made (from scratch) my Coconut Macaroons and was disappointed when out of the 24 cookies I brought home, about 16 of them were store bought.
What's your thoughts on this?
Take one Packers fan, one Cubs fan, and three kids and move them from Wisconsin to Texas. Here's the story of what happens...

Seems strange to me. Every exchange I've been to, it was all either homemade or store bought cookies that were added on to (like the santa nutter butters-- http://www.carolinacountry.com/cookinpages/foodcategories/desserts/othersweets/santacookies.html).
In years past (early 80's) all the cookie exchanges (Elk Grove Newcomers Club)consisted of all homemade cookies. People were proud to show off a family favorite or their baking skill. Did we as Moms drop the ball in teaching our kids to bake from scratch? I do not mind the bake and break but they are not homemade. I guess all you can do is set the example as always and hope it inspires someone.
sad, I guess busy moms??
